Field Coaching Program
Coaching Capability Built Where Work Actually Happens — Not in a Training Room
Field Coaching Program
Programme details
- Initial Phase (Half-Day Orientation)
- Assessment of team development gaps → framework overview → logistics and expectations
- Field Coaching Phase (4 weeks, on-site)
- A coach embeds with the manager and their team for 2-4 hours weekly, observing the manager coaching in actual situations. Immediate debrief: "Here is what landed. Here is what could shift." The manager adjusts and coaches again.
- Integration Phase (Week 5 onwards)
- Independent coaching with occasional check-ins. Optional 30-day group mentoring with peer managers and the coach.
A manager can learn coaching theory in a two-day program and still default to command-and-control when pressure hits. But if a manager learns to coach while coaching — in real situations with real stakes, with someone experienced right there coaching the coach — the capability becomes part of how they work. The team gets better immediately.
The Integral Institute's Field Coaching Program takes coaching out of the classroom and into actual work. Managers build trust, solve problems, and develop their teams by practicing on real challenges with real people. The coach observes, debriefs, adjusts, and coaches again — that is how capability actually transfers.
What Managers Develop
Trust Building and Psychological Safety
Psychological safety is the structural precondition for people to think clearly, take reasonable risks, and problem-solve together. Managers learn how to build that foundation through actual team interactions, with a coach observing and refining their approach in real time.
Listening and Empathy in Difficult Situations
Most managers listen to respond, not to understand. True listening takes eyes, ears, heart, and uninterrupted attention — if even one is missing, you are not listening. This program develops the deep listening that makes people feel genuinely heard.
Helping Teams Solve Problems (Not Solving for Them)
One of the hardest shifts for managers: moving from "I will fix this" to "Let us figure this out together." Managers learn the right questions, the pacing, and the confidence to guide their team's problem-solving on real challenges they are facing.
Coaching in the Moment
Real coaching happens in the hallway, at the stand-up, during the decision — not in scheduled one-on-ones. Managers learn to spot coaching opportunities in the actual flow of work.
